Thank you for using Background Stretcher! The aim of this stack is to make is slightly easier for you to modify the body page background. We use a common technique called CSS (cascade style sheets) to accomplish this and apply styling to your page <body> tag, which normally encloses the whole page. Compatibility with various themes varies and you can expect Background Stretcher to work better in some themes; compared to others. Generally speaking, Background Stretcher works best in themes that have a visible body background.

Although named 'background stretcher' this stack is able to place and scale your chosen image in various ways. All configurable settings can be accessed in the stack options, normally shown on the right when this stack is selected in edit mode. You can choose to use either an image either dragged and dropped into RapidWeaver form your computer, or a warehoused image stored online.

You should only add a single Background Stretcher stack to this page. If you want to reuse the same Background Stretcher stack (and identical settings) across all pages of your website, you can convert Background Stretcher into a 'Partial'. The optional 'Forced Styling' checkbox will append an !important declaration after the rulesets, in an effort to override any styling the theme may already be applying.

Please take care to ensure your applied background image maintains good contrast against other page content, like writing. It is important to test this at all screen sizes, because sometimes elements move around - and could move towards a lighter or darker part of a background image.

To keep pages loading quickly, avoid any using any images larger than 200kb. Images much be in either jQG or PNG format, saved at 72 dpi.
